Blue Mountains Bush Adventure: Waterfalls, Rainforest & Hidden Lookouts
Get ready for a proper Blue Mountains adventure with your mates! Think spectacular cliff-top views, lush rainforest trails, thundering waterfalls and the chance to cool off in a natural swimming hole. With a small group of up to 20 people and local guides who love sharing their backyard, this is your chance to experience the Blue Mountains beyond the usual tourist stops.
Your adventure kicks off at Wentworth Falls, where you’ll explore the historic National Pass track, winding along dramatic sandstone cliffs with incredible views across the Jamison Valley. Keep an eye out for lyrebirds, breathe in the fresh mountain air and take in the rugged beauty of one of Australia’s most impressive walking trails.
Next, it’s time to head into the lush rainforest along the Valley of the Waters Nature Track. Follow fern-lined paths and listen to the sound of rushing water as you make your way towards Empress Falls. Here, a beautiful waterfall tumbles into a deep emerald pool surrounded by towering canyon walls. If conditions are safe and the weather cooperates, you may even get the chance to enjoy a refreshing swim in the cool mountain water — an unforgettable way to experience the Blue Mountains!
All that exploring works up an appetite, so lunch is included. Enjoy a relaxed picnic at the Valley of the Waters Picnic Area, with fresh sandwiches, wraps, fruit and snacks. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options are available, so there’s something to keep everyone fuelled for the afternoon.
After lunch, we’ll make our way to Katoomba to visit the famous Echo Point lookout and admire the iconic Three Sisters rising above the vast valley. Your guide will share the local Gundungurra and Darug Dreamtime stories connected to this remarkable landscape, adding a deeper meaning to the views.
We’ll then continue along a scenic clifftop walk overlooking Katoomba Falls, where you’ll enjoy sweeping 270-degree views across the surrounding valleys. Keep your eyes on the skies — you might even spot a wedge-tailed eagle soaring overhead!
And just when you think the day couldn’t get any better, we might have one last surprise up our sleeve. If time and conditions allow, your guide may take the crew to The Mates’ Edge, a special hidden lookout away from the usual tourist trail. It’s our little secret, shared with those who join the adventure.
