The Port Stephens With Quad Bike Adventure is not your average Port Stephens day tour. While most tours treat the quad bikes as a quick add-on, here the ATV adventure is the hero of the day — a full hour on the highest coastal sand dunes in the Southern Hemisphere, guided by qualified instructors. Zero experience needed.

After the dunes, there’s a quick scenic photo stop at Anna Bay and Stockton Beach — the perfect moment to capture the scale of those dunes from ground level before moving on. Then it’s lunch at Nelson Bay or Shoal Bay (own expense) — both are loaded with great waterfront cafes and fish and chips spots — before your Mate Tours guide leads you up Mount Tomaree. That’s a steep but rewarding 2.2 km return hike to 161 metres above sea level, with panoramic views over Port Stephens, Nelson Bay, and the open Pacific. It’s one of the best coastal lookouts in New South Wales, and most visitors have no idea it exists.

Beach time wraps up the afternoon. Shoal Bay and Fingal Bay are two of the region’s most spectacular stretches of sand — calm, clear water, and a real world away from Sydney. The whole day is guided by your Mate Tours crew — from the coach in Sydney to the drive home. Small groups of max 15 keep it personal, premium, and genuinely fun.

• 1:45 PM — Guided Mount Tomaree summit hike (2.2 km return, ~1.5 hrs)
• 2:45 PM — Free time at Shoal Bay or Fingal Bay. Optional dolphin cruise
• 3:45 PM — Depart Port Stephens for Sydney
• 6:30 PM — Arrive 812 George St, Haymarket
